Johana Calvo, BCaBA
I am a Marriage and Family Therapy Master’s level student intern as well as a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA).
I have significant experience working with children that present with challenges in social interaction, speech and nonverbal communication, and restricted/repetitive behaviors utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment therapy. I have worked with children ranging from ages 2-12 with the implementation of effective treatment plans across a variety of settings by assessing behavior functions, utilizing prompt levels and reinforcement schedules to shape and increase appropriate and socially acceptable behaviors while utilizing extinction and differential reinforcement procedures to decrease unwanted and inappropriate behaviors.
In addition to working with the abovementioned specialized group of children, it is my goal to help couples, families and individuals navigate presenting relational difficulties such as depression, anxiety, trauma, communication and intimacy to reach their therapeutic goals by collaboratively building up on strengths and setting achievable goals through understanding, compassion utilizing evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy.
My dream is to merge the two fields to provide a complete well-rounded treatment process to the families who are affected by ASD.
